Meta Ads
Connect Meta Ads to your Workspace to report on Facebook and Instagram ad performance, build campaigns from scratch, upload images and videos for your ads, and pause, resume, or adjust what’s running, all in your Meta ad accounts.
Meta Ads is separate from the Facebook Messenger and Instagram Direct integrations, which handle conversations with your customers. Connect Meta Ads to work with advertising.
What Luo can do
- Ad accounts — list the ad accounts you can access, with their status and currency
- Business Portfolios and Pages — list the Business Portfolios you belong to and the Facebook Pages you manage, and read a Page’s follower and engagement counts
- Campaigns — list and read campaigns with their objective, status, and budget, create campaigns, and change their name, budget, or status
- Ad sets — list ad sets for an account or campaign, create them with an optimization goal, schedule, budget, and targeting (locations, age, gender, and more), and update them
- Creatives — create image and video ad creatives with primary text, a headline, a link, and a call to action
- Ads — list ads, create ads from an ad set and a creative, and pause, resume, or archive them
- Media — upload images and videos to your ad account’s media library, and check when an uploaded video is ready to use
- Insights — impressions, reach, clicks, spend, conversions, and cost metrics for an account, campaign, ad set, or ad, over a preset period or custom dates, broken down by age, gender, country, region, platform, placement, or device
Luo asks for your confirmation before it:
- creates or updates a campaign (including pausing, resuming, and budget changes)
- creates or updates an ad set
- creates an ad creative
- creates or updates an ad
You can choose to always allow each kind of action for a specific ad account, campaign, ad set, or ad. Uploading images and videos doesn’t ask for confirmation, because media in your library isn’t public and doesn’t spend anything.
What Luo can’t do
Luo can’t delete campaigns, ad sets, or ads. Archive or pause them instead. It can’t create or manage custom audiences, pixels, or conversion tracking, and it can’t publish organic posts to your Facebook Page or Instagram account.
How to connect
- Open your workspace in Luo, go to Settings → Integrations, and click Add Integration.
- Select Meta Ads.
- Choose to connect as a user integration (your personal connection) or a workspace integration (shared across members).
- Sign in with Facebook and authorize Luo. When Facebook asks which ad accounts, Pages, and Business Portfolios to share, select the ones you want Luo to work with.
- Optionally, pick a Default Ad Account in the integration’s settings. Luo then uses it whenever you don’t name an account.
You need access to at least one ad account to connect. You don’t need your own Meta developer app for Meta Ads.
Good to know
- New campaigns, ad sets, and ads start paused. Nothing spends until you ask Luo to activate them, and the confirmation says so.
- Budgets go on the campaign or the ad set, not both. With a campaign budget, Meta spreads spend across the campaign’s ad sets.
- Updating an ad set’s targeting replaces it. Luo reads the current targeting first and sends the full updated version.
- Ads go through Meta’s review. A new ad shows as pending review until Meta approves it, and won’t deliver before then.
- Uploaded media belongs to one ad account. To use the same image or video in another account, upload it there too.
- Only shared accounts show up. Ad accounts and Pages you didn’t select when connecting, or that belong to a Business Portfolio you didn’t share, aren’t visible to Luo. Reconnect to change the selection.
- Reconnect about every 60 days. Facebook connections expire after roughly 60 days. When Luo reports that the connection has expired, reconnect it from Settings → Integrations.
