X Ads

Connect X Ads to your Workspace to build campaigns from scratch, adjust budgets and bids, set targeting, create and promote ad creatives, and report on spend and performance — all in your X Ads accounts.

X Ads is separate from the X integration, which posts, reads, and sends direct messages as your account. Connect X Ads to work with advertising.

What Luo can do

  • Ad accounts — list the ad accounts you can access, and check your permissions on each
  • Funding instruments — list payment sources, including how much credit or funding is left
  • Campaigns — list and read campaigns (including why a campaign isn’t serving), create campaigns, rename them, change budgets, and pause or resume them
  • Line items (X’s ad groups) — create and update line items with an objective, schedule, budget, bid strategy, and frequency cap, and pause or resume them
  • Pacing — standard delivery (spread through the day) or accelerated delivery (as fast as possible)
  • Targeting — add or remove keywords (including negative keywords), locations, interests, age, gender, language, platform, and followers of specific accounts or lookalikes, and look up locations and interests by name
  • Creatives — create ad tweets with text, images, GIFs, or video; upload media to your media library; and create website cards (an image or video with a headline that links to your site)
  • Promoted tweets — promote tweets on a line item, stop promoting them, and check their ad review status
  • Analytics — impressions, engagements, clicks, and spend by account, campaign, funding instrument, line item, or promoted tweet, as a total or by day or hour

Luo asks for your confirmation before it:

  • creates or updates a campaign or line item (including pausing, resuming, and budget, bid, or schedule changes)
  • adds or removes targeting
  • creates a tweet
  • promotes or stops promoting a tweet
  • deletes a website card

You can choose to always allow each kind of action for a specific ad account. Uploading media and creating website cards don’t ask for confirmation — they’re drafts that aren’t public and don’t spend anything.

What Luo can’t do

Luo can’t delete campaigns, line items, or tweets — pause them instead. It can’t create or manage custom audiences, set up conversion tracking, or create cards other than website cards. Campaign budget optimization (budgets set at the campaign level and shared across line items) isn’t supported: Luo sets budgets on each line item.

How to connect

  1. Open your workspace in Luo, go to Settings → Integrations, and click Add Integration.
  2. Select X Ads.
  3. Choose to connect as a user integration (your personal connection) or a workspace integration (shared across members).
  4. Sign in to X and authorize Luo. Use an X account that has access to your ads account — either the account that owns it or one added under account access in X Ads Manager.

You don’t need your own X developer app for X Ads.

Good to know

  • New campaigns and line items start paused. Nothing spends until you ask Luo to activate them. A campaign only serves once it has at least one active line item.
  • No targeting means everyone. A line item without targeting reaches all users worldwide, so add targeting before you activate it.
  • Accelerated delivery can spend a day’s budget within minutes. Luo only uses it when you ask, and the confirmation says so. Pacing can’t be changed after a line item is created.
  • Ad tweets are promoted-only by default. They don’t appear on your profile’s timeline. Luo only posts a public tweet when you ask for one, and the confirmation says so.
  • Ads go through X’s review. A promoted tweet that’s still under review or was rejected won’t serve, even on an active line item.
  • Recent spend is an estimate. X finalizes billed spend over about 3 to 14 days.
  • Analytics cover up to 7 days and 20 campaigns (or other items) per request. Longer periods and bigger reports take several requests. Account-level analytics don’t include spend, so the assistant adds it up from your campaigns instead.
  • Posting as a brand account. To create ad tweets as a different handle on a managed ads account, your X account needs the Tweet composer permission on that ads account.
